Imagine tomorrow you find your email inbox not an undifferentiated pile, but instead arranged with organized replies composed and ready for your approval. In your electronic calendar you find an upcoming trip completely arranged, with all information appearing at the needed time. Your hard drive files have been carefully organized, your to-do list has been reviewed and prioritized, and an email question helps you clarify what your next step is on a nebulous project. Some tasks have actually been completed. With Taryn Merrick’s impressive communication skills and organizational ability, and some synchronization and networking software, this dream can be reality! Taryn’s efforts have contributed immensely to my professional and individual productivity.

Over the first several months we worked together, Taryn and I first arranged for her to be able to access my email, then my calendar and to-do list, then some databases I use, and finally the hard drive of my computer. With each tool shared, Taryn’s help with my workflow increased. I began to feel more on top of my tasks.

Now, my fear of forgetting an undertaking is gone. Annually, for example, I would allow a major convention to sneak up on me, and I would have to scramble, ending up with expensive plane tickets and an inconvenient hotel. This year Taryn saw the convention on my calendar far in advance. She asked me the necessary questions and arranged all the travel, saving me time, money and a great deal of hassle.

Not only has my electronic world become more organized, perhaps surprisingly my physical office is orderly for the first time as well! For years I have wanted to clean up some old physical files and rarely used desk drawers. I always seemed to remember this chore at inconvenient times, and it irked me. Working with Taryn, I put the task on my to do list. At first she would occasionally remind me along with my other to-dos. When it became clear I would never consider “now” a good time, she suggested that I take a few hours on a Sunday, and she made it an appointment on my calendar. I brought my baby daughter over to the office and made a little party out of it (it turns out my baby loves the shredder!) Now the space under my desk is clear, which has relieved me of one more lurking task and made my workspace more professional and effective.

Taryn has herself executed an impressive number and variety of jobs in my stead. Online shopping and research, presentation preparation, bill paying, data recording, data mining…the list goes on. Every time I put something on my to-do list, Taryn asks herself “can I help with this”? If she knows the answer is yes, she goes ahead. If she suspects the answer might be yes but needs confirmation, she asks. (I love getting those emails – “Is this something I can help with” are beautiful words to a busy manager!)

Taryn’s discretion is complete. I work with sensitive data, and Taryn handles it carefully and prudently. When communicating for me, she makes sure she knows what information she should and should not share with another party. She takes into account computer and Internet security issues. When in doubt, Taryn errs on the side of caution in matters of privacy and confidentiality. I have found her sense of professional ethics to be beyond question.

Taryn keeps the lines of communication open. Willing to take on large projects, she evaluates her own time and expertise clearly and accurately. I always feel comfortable proposing she assist with even amorphous tasks that may require some information specific to me, because I am confident she can come back with a rational analysis of what she can do right now, what information she would need to do other parts, and what aspects really need to remain in my court.

I am more effective at work and have more free time at home because of the excellent work Taryn Merrick has done. I also carry less tension, knowing that tasks I have taken on will not slip through the cracks. I recommend her services enthusiastically and without hesitation.

Do you have rush service?

Sometimes. Rush tasks need to be completed immediately versus a standard turnaround time. We estimate a standard turnaround time as 12 hours to 2 business days depending on the scope of the project. Rush fees keep us from following the scheduling framework that we have internally planned out, so we charge more for rush work.  We cannot guarantee that we will be available for rush work, but the policy is there in case we are able to accommodate you.
