How Does Working With a Virtual Assistant Work?

Some people are so entirely overwhelmed about the whole procedure of working with a Virtual Assistant that they never try it!

Outlined below are our basic “intake” procedures starting with the initial referral or web form contact all the way through to the first day of working virtually together.

• The prospect or referral emails me
• We either correspond over email or we arrange an initial phone consultation
• The prospect fills out a pre-call or “intake” questionnaire
• We speak on the phone and I evaluate the potential clients administrative needs and determine if my company can meet those needs to their satisfaction
• During the consultation the potential client asks me any questions that come to mind about working with a Virtual Assistant and vocalizes any concerns that he/she may have
• The potential client is sent a sample work agreement and client checklist
• Our company receives the documentation and reviews it
• The new client is is encouraged to outline what they would like their first few projects or tasks to be. They are encouraged to gather up any collateral data that would be necessary for the Virtual Assistant to have to complete the project or task
• The Virtual Assistant normally starts on the first project once the contract begins
• It normally takes a month or two for the new client to get accustomed to working collaboratively with a Virtual Assistant

Working together with a Virtual Assistant is a process of good communication skills, supplying the Virtual Assistant with whatever they need to complete the task, and keeping an open mind on better ways to be productive and get organized.

From my experience, it normally  takes a few months to “get in the groove” of working together. The key factor to a Virtual Assistants success is how much more free time the client has and if client systems, such as processes and procedures,  are running smoother.
