5 Benefits to Virtual Assistants using the MobileMe iDisk app for the iPhone
Yet another Apple iPhone application has made it’s debut. As a Mac Virtual Assistant this particular one has increased my functionality by a large percentage.
Benefits to me as a Virtual Assistant:
- I can check client documents on the fly
- Clients ask me to share certain files with their own clients. Now I can do that from my iPhone and also stop sharing the file if they instruct me to
- I can check incoming client files quickly from my iPhone when they are uploaded to my public folder
- This application is a great back up to other processes I have implemented to have constant mobile access to my files
- I now have the ability to check files (as do my clients) without the distraction of viewing the email application
Since many of my clients ask that I scan their bills, statements, invoices, etc., and upload them to their iDisk, they can now view these documents on the go, no matter where they are. This comes in so handy when they they don’t have their laptop with them or are not in the office with access to their desktop.
My virtual assistant clients can also take a quick look at the progress I am making on their proposal, newsletter, etc. Or they can check out that new logo I am working on for their website.
Users can view any file up to 20MB in size, and share files via a link in an email message.
You can also assign a password to protect the files you are sending and put a cap on the amount of days the download will remain active. Caveat: Viewing those files is limited to iPhone friendly file types such as iWork, Office, PDF, etc.
As a Mac Virtual Assistant, I highly recommend downloading the MobileMe iDisk application. Please note you must be running 3.0 software on your iPhone and have an active MobileMe account.
